I am Remmis dad, my daughter was one of Jades friends that was in the 4x4 vehicle at the time of this tragic preventable accident. I appeal to all the parents out there to support our kids highly commendable efforts to change the legislation concerning alike tours in order to prevent similar heartache in the future. I am a 4wd enthusiast, I'm 27 and I think this is a brilliant idea, I've done many remote off-road trips, some of the behaviour and negligence of some people is a disgrace. Whilst it would be hard to police, it should be mandatory for any business or hire companies.

We need to change the patterns of recreation on Fraser Island so that there is less reliance on 4WDs and more emphasis on improving the environmental experience of visitors to this World Heritage island. I also believe that we need to focus more on the Backpacker tour companies that let inexperienced drivers take control of large 4WDs with seven other lives aboard and also to ensure that the lead drivers show greater responsibility and competence to lead groups of 32 to 35 people without any other field support.

I visited Frazer Island in 2009 and had a couple of near misses with the 4x4 jeeps. So scary!! Unfortunately, other people werent as lucky and four people lost their lives whilst I was there. Unqualified trips should be banned and current legislation needs to be updated to prevent future deaths and to improve safety measures for visitors so they too can enjoy the wonders Frazer has to offer.

I didn't know jade but I saw this page being shared on Facebook & it's such a good cause. Nearly 6 years ago I went on one of these trips to Fraser Island & we had a few near misses in the 4x4 I was in & it was scary! When I look back now it seems crazy that we were allowed to go off in one if these with barely any training or supervision. I'm so sorry for your loss & I really hope this makes a difference x

I an Ian Davy's Father he died 18-04-2009 in an accident very similar on Frazer island. I hope this petition reaches at least its goal of 20000. I feel the pain of loosing a son. RIP Jade & Ian
