Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs is urging Lowe’s to reform their military discount policy for veterans.

Lowe’s Corporate Policy offers an everyday 10% discount to active duty, retired military veterans or those with a VA Card who receive benefits through the VA. However, not all honorably discharged veterans have retired in the military or qualify for the VA card, leaving a vast number of our heroes unrecognized.

Historically, veterans haven't always received the honor they deserve and each and every time a veteran goes into a Lowe’s and is rejected a 10% discount because he or she isn’t the “right kind” of veteran, this just reopens the wound. After all, retired, disabled or not, didn’t they all equally put their life on the line?

Lowe’s does offer a 10% military discount to all veterans on Veterans Day, 4th of July and Memorial Day but the number of veterans only continues to grow as more and more military are discharged. These heroes are coming back home after serving our country to start families and build homes.

What a wonderful and meaningful gesture it would be for Lowe’s to extend the 10% discount to ALL veterans, every day. After all, they didn’t only choose three days out of the year to keep us safe.
