After knowing Jacob Since 8th grade and now being a senior in high school there have been many things that I have come to learn about him. I know Jake is a caring, loving, and very passionate person. Jake is not a criminal and doesn't deserve to live his life as a felon. He has so much potential it’s unreal, this would literally destroy his life; all for him trying to bring attention to this app because people were getting bullied, --a statement gone horribly wrong-- I know that there could have been other ways but I also know Jakes intentions were good and I have no doubt about that whatsoever. I really hope the courts take what I have done into consideration, many people know Jake is not a dangerous person and are supporting me with my petition and supporting him 100% and many people have told me that they are happy that I am doing this. I would also like to say that the staff was “advised not to sign” (A teacher told me this) which I thought was unfair and unjustifiable. Although they were advised not to sign there was one staff member who signed anyways who I am very thankful for. He has helped me a lot; when I first made the petition he looked over it and helped me make appropriate changes, and also told me he was happy I made the petition. I think it’s important that the courts see how much support Jake has, because what they see is not the real Jake, we as a community know the real Jake.

I know my brother. He's responsible, caring, loving, and can make a stranger laugh. I know if he does something his intentions are pure. I don't think my brother who has his whole life ahead should be made an example of. He is a good student, brother, friend, and Uncle.

As this case moves forward, I hope the prosecutors and the courts will see this case for what it is- a lack of judgement on the part of a teenager frustrated by the lack of response from adults when he brought it to their attention that this app was being used to bully his fellow students. We have all said things we later regret, and Jacob should make reparations to his community in some way, but to charge him with crimes that carry sentences spanning twice as long as he's even been alive is unduly harsh. There were no weapons found, no attempts to obtain any, and no plans to harm anyone on Jacob's part. I hope that these facts, as well as the fact that Jacob has never been in trouble before and is already contributing to society by maintaining good grades and working a part time job, will help convince the court that Jacob is not a threat to the community, and should not be treated as such.

Jacob Young is an absolutely wonderful kid, there is no way that he made those statements with any intention behind them. Issues like these are happening more and more and what no one is asking is why...kids are being bullied and no one says anything about that but when a kid responds to bullying because of emotions running high all of a sudden it becomes an issue. Teachers and school officials are there to help prevent bullying and things like this to escalate, but they fall short until it gets way out of hand and then the back tracking begins. I would like the adults involved to put themselves in the shoes of a bullied child and see how you would react to this, and keep in mind that you are thinking with a child's mind not an adults. Jacob doesn't mean any harm to anyone, sure he could have chose a different route to express his distain for what was going on, but sometimes your emotions get away from you no matter your age and I don't believe that Jacob should be treated harshly. He is a young man with his whole life ahead of him and he made a mistake that I'm positive will never happen again.

Knowing Jacob for a few years now I know he had no intention at all to carry out what he said I believe it was just a mistake on his part he wanted to make an impact but went about it the wrong way. We also have to take into consideration that he's young and although he is a very bright individual he wasn't thinking about the consequences that would come from these threats. I feel that it would be truely unfair if Jake had to go through life with this situation always arising and labeling him as someone he's not.

After spending almost every day for about a year with Jacob I came to realize that he is the most wonderful person I have met. He is not only caring for others he is a very smart kid who made a wrong decision. In his future he should not be considered a felon because that is not what he is. I love you Jacob.
