Hello My Name is Jacob Bickett! I will be Running for Student Senate on behalf of the Class of '25! By becoming a student senate member, I want to be a voice for the community of students here at Illinois Wesleyan. As we return this fall, I reflect back on the commitment that I made as a Senator last year. I promised to maintain a safe and fun transition back to campus for every student. I delivered on that promise through the advocacy work I did on the senate floor and as the Assistant Treasurer. In this position, I worked closely with the Financial Advisory Board to provide funds to RSOs to use for their events or other organizational needs. Through this work we have made it possible for many other fun events such as Barrio Fiesta, CAB drag race and Black Student Union’s 90's Bash. This past semester we worked collectively as the members who are responsible for the Senate's finances, to make the Financial president more inclusive to all members of our community to continue the mission of the Senate, to create an inclusive campus for all of the members of IWU. Additionally I am a member of the Student Safety Committee, where I work with fellow students and faculty of the university to look for ways to make the campus safer. This past year I was elected as a member of the Fraternity's officer board and as the Vice President of Programming on behalf of the Interfraternity Council. Through these positions, I have worked to create events that expand Greek life’s commitment to serve the local community. In addition, I was recognized as the emerging leader of the year at the Do Well and Do Good award ceremony. Although the work is far from over, I remain dedicated to bringing a safe and fun transition back to normalcy on IWU's campus!
