People are leaving Jackson County in droves because of the cost of flood insurance. We have beautiful houses sitting empty and unable to sell simply because they are unable to meet the requirements or the flood insurance is astronomical.

I encourage all residents of this area to sign this petition. The flood issue affects all of us, not just those who live near the water, but those who live inland.

Please put us on an even playing field. Restrictions in Alabama are much more reasonable than in Mississipp

As a Realtor in Pascagoula (Jackson County), the restrictions placed on properties is unbelievable. Elevation requirements prevent new homes from being built and even additions to existing homes. I could write a short book on the problems cause by the National Flood Programs cost, changes and restrictions which are killing our town and county overall.

I have personally counseled numerous families in this area that were told that they could not improve their homes without making expensive, and unnecessary changes due to the flood elevation requirements. This needs to be changed or Pascagoula cannot reach its potential.

I am unable to expand the size of my home to accommodate my family without meeting expensive and unnecessary means, specifically by raising a 1932 home 4 feet or more. This is unreasonable and promotes us buying a home elsewhere which may be out of Pascagoula or in an area we would incur huge insurance premiums. Something needs to be done.
