We, the undersigned residents of Jackson County, Wisconsin, would like the Jackson County Public Health Dept. and the Jackson County Agriculture Committee (Jackson County Fair Board) to cancel the 2020 Jackson County Fair, which poses a significant health risk to our county.

  • Cases of COVID-19 are spiking throughout Wisconsin, because people are not following basic guidelines to control the virus.
  • As of July 17, Jackson County’s COVID-19 risk is still at MEDIUM, as defined by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
  • Jackson County sits surrounded by 7 counties (Clark, Eau Claire, Juneau, Monroe, La Crosse, Trempealeau, and Wood) that ALL currently have a HIGH-risk level with 6 counties cancelling their fairs and the 7th county modifying their fair and having restrictions.
  • COVID-19 cases in each of these counties increase each day, along with cases across the entire state of Wisconsin; Just three days ago, Wisconsin set a new daily record with the number of confirmed cases.

The 5-Day Fair scheduled for July 29 – August 5 has been partially modified. However, the event is open to the public with no admission fees. There are still several events (besides the exhibiting and showing events) scheduled where large numbers of people can interact. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no restrictions or guidelines provided by the Jackson County Public Health Department.

Now is not the time to poke the hornet’s nest in Jackson County!
