Hello,
My program is one of those waiting for an answer or instruction, which leaves all students at different points in their rotations. Some asked to leave their rotation site, some going to the site for half days, and some still going full days depending on the site regulations for students. This also means we will all be done and able to graduate at different points, some with current job offers that need delaying, some with questions on how they will eat or how they will pay rent if they are delayed. My program of Stony Brook University cannot make these big decisions without you, and students are struggling. Please provide definite answers and guidelines so there is a consensus on this matter.
Best Regards,
Alessandra Stoj, PA-S

Thank you so much for voicing this and putting something together. Uncertain times call for community and I thank you for being the voice of so many of us.

My program has indefinitely postponed our final rotation. We have 4.5 weeks of clinicals left. That is about 22 shifts. I personally have an elective and have already completed all required rotation hours. We are now delayed for an unknown amount of time, many of us with no idea where we will live, how we will continue paying for things, etc. I strongly encourage ARC-PA to reconsider their position for the many students like us, whose lives are significantly impacted by this unnecessarily rigid rule.

The fact that ARC-PA has chosen to essentially hang students out to dry with simply a “tough luck, take out more loans” mentality is unacceptable. Step up to support the programs and students under your purview in the same capacity that other credentialing bodies have during this time. No one is asking that you churn out in experiences and unprepared providers, but at the same time you need to address circumstances as they continue to develop. Do better.

The BRN is in discussions to swap nursing clinical hours for SIM hours to graduate them on time... surely ARC-PA can follow in the same footsteps and find SOME way to accommodate PA students. The workforce needs us to graduate on time now more than ever to help meet these dynamic needs.

I understand that all of our clinical hours are important, but it’s also important for me to know where I live and how afford to extend school beyond graduation. Many of us already far exceed the minimum number of hours required to graduate PA school. I’d like ARC PA to knowledge that since they’re mandatory requirement to make up these loss hours during this time

I’m a PA student and I understand the unforeseen circumstances but I feel like my education is being jeopardized as a result of that and I don’t think that’s to be decided by just my immediate overarching school. I think it is deserving to have a nationwide consensus.

it's not students faults that we can't compete our required hours. you're just setting the entire PA profession back as long as this takes when others are finding solutions to get more into the workforce

Not having a clear answer on where ARCPA stands for graduation leaves endless anxiety for me—where will I live last minute? How much will it cost? What will I do to prolong boards and an income? I understand how important our clinical hours, but I’d like more guidance and support.

Just some guidance would be nice so our program isn't left to figure it out all on their own.
I’m supposed to be graduating mid-May.
