If anyone ever had any doubt that Hard Rock was an embarassment to the artists it parastitically feeds on, thsi should settle it! What scum.

That upvote was in error, and I can't seem to cancel it. I do believe it's a big deal. The rebuilt Cavern Club is only feet away from the original, so the argument still stands strong.

John, you're correct of course, but The Cavern name belongs in Liverpool no matter what! Thanks for signing.

The original club is gone, but the people who are trying to preserve the spirit of the original Cavern Club should have the name, not some greedy corporate hamburger joint, that uses Rock and Roll to peddle, over-priced food and drink, and who didn't arrive on the music scene until long after the original Cavern Club. It's about preserving the past, and honoring a legacy. I could hope that the Semonile Tribe of Florida would get that, but that's why we're here. The "tribe" is really a very well established corporation, which trades on the value of their name. That's what's really driving this issue. They will go after anyone, who they think might take a dime away from them. "Don't get fooled again," by corporate America at its worst.

The irony of all this is that the Cavern in Mathew Street was not the place 'where it all began' for the Beatles. That place was The Casbah Club in Hayman's Green, West Derby, Liverpool, run by Pete Best's mum, Mo, and where the other Beatles met and recruited Pete Best. That is where the line-up with Pete Best played ever before The Cavern, and The Casbah therefore has the undisputed right to claim the title 'Where it all began...!

What's the big deal?
The original Cavern Club was torn down in the 80's.

John, we all know the original Cavern was torn down a long time ago, but this is about Liverpool having the name which, at the end of the day, is what people think about when they think about The Beatles and the wonderful Merseybeat era that followed their move. The name belongs here, real Cavern or not. Thanks a lot.
