While I'm not a Year 12 I completely understand where our current Year 12's are coming from and this definitely needs to happen. No matter what room it is, the Year 12's need a space just for them.

I think it's really unfair that the year 8s, 9s and 10s get that Lunch Space when they have it really easy compared to us. They don't have nearly enough pressure like we do and can get away with failing their subjects. Lift your game Kildare.

After seeing this posted up on social media I completely agree with what the girls at Kildare college are trying to get across! As a former student of a public school in Adelaide, I found my year 12 common room so helpful and beneficial, as it gave a place for the older girls to connect at lunch time and share outer struggles of year 12!! I think this is a great initiative by the girls, and speaking from past experience, a year 12 common room is very beneficial!!

Posted this on a Facebook comment too, but can I also point out that today they announced an exclusive room for Years 8-10 today and used the excuse 'we're taking baby steps' because they decided to not include senior students? I mean, they get free hot chocolate and us suckers still have to pay for it. If they don't want the seniors hanging around the younger years then assign a separate room for them.

I think this is really important, especially in light of the new Lunch Space initiative for years 8-10. Year 12s need it way more than them! Disappointing, really.

My friends and I were talking about this today. How come other schools get to have Year 12 exclusive areas (such as Saint Ignatius and Cafe 12 at Banksia High) and we don't? This hasn't even been considered! They may argue that the Senior Study Centre was created for us, but it's not even Senior exclusive as the entire school uses that facility. Nobody uses the Italian room at Lunch anyway, so what's the harm in making that a space for Year 12's to use as a comfortable and productive environment? Also I would love for this to happen as soon as possible, because our Year 12's this year are missing out on a lot of things and it would be a shame if they would not be able to see their vision come through.

We need a year 12 room especially for seniors, still haven't got our year 12 jumpers... Very disappointing. It's obvious Kildare college does not respect or care about their year 12s.

If schools can get a common room in year 7, we can have one in year 12.

We know that Kildare College prides themselves on 'vertical grouping', but as Year 12's we've become disconnected from this time in PC as we have frees now and don't spend as much time within this class. So it would seem fair to give the Senior students a space to relax and talk amongst each other in a common room as we are all undergoing the same pressures and can use each other to push through this year.
