I was shocked. I was shocked to discover that out of all the local colleges and universities, Texas Wesleyan is the only school to require Veterans to take a Health/Wellness or PE credit course. I understand it is not that big of a deal, and I understand a majority of you have already taken it, but I still feel it is wrong. When going somewhere like TCC to get back into the swing of things, being told PE is not required as a Veteran, and not seeing it in degree requirements from other schools, TWU should no be the exception to this trend. We only have 36 months of GI benefits, and any measure to help us to our degree in the quickest manner possible is crucial. I am assembling this petition to address this issue with President Slabach. If you agree with this issue put your name to the petition and I will deliver directly to the President's hands with our case. I am open to all comments you have on the matter.

Boot camp/basic training and all the other required physical activity that is required of us in the military should count as the 2 credit basic wellness course. I felt this way too when my Smart/Jst transcript was evaluated and I was not awarded transfer credits for it.

I had this same issue when I transferred from TCC. The only reason that I was able to have it waived was due to completion of my GEC.
I raised my concerns about this because there was no way that after having gone through Marine Corps recruit training and then Drill Instructor school, would I go through a PE Course.
I stand with every veteran on this campus that is affected by this. There is no reason that a veteran should have to waste a class that can be occupied by another required course.

Basic Training is way more PE than most classes could hope to provide...
