Yes we need a change, Karate Ontario has become an institution out of touch with the customer base. We need a level of professional executives to engage all clubs, all styles and work for the membership not the reverse.

Something needs to be done. Further increases in fees. Less for it. I have several students who have quit going because of the costs associated with the potential for 1 fight at the age of 9. Inconsistencies and everything mentioned in the petition needs to be addressed

Dear Sean Wong, I have been member of Karate Ontario for 46 years and I NEVER saw you compete at Karate Ontario tournament. Maybe you had a concussion at some private tournament and you had a dream that you were fighting Canadian champion.

Having competed in tournaments against Wifred Seerattan and having trained with Randy Dauphin (for over 18 years), I know and respect both of these individuals - and they are valued as martial artists. Their opinion is valued and their word is truth. As a kyu belt in the 1980's I competed in some Karate Ontario events and the stories listed in this petition are consistent with my experiences as a young teen. How has this continued on for so long...this is not the tradition that is intended to be carried on. Sad that a petition has to be created to a catalyst for opportunities for reform...which is really trying to get us back to our roots. Time for change and for Karate Ontario to represent all of Ontario Karate, not just Toronto.

I have a lot of disappointed students who were all set to compete in a tournament that was cancelled due to pressure from Karate Ontario. It is upsetting that an organization is seeking to line its pockets at the expense of local families. The children should not have to suffer. We are martial arts brothers and sisters, so let's not stand in each other's way

Karate is one of the greatest styles of martial arts and it can help children to develop a healthy body while learning how to control their emotions under stress which is a great tool for them in their adult lives

As a new member to Karate Ontario I still do not feel like just that, a member. So far the tournaments have felt unwelcoming and unorganized. I would be happy to support any change in the direction outlined above.
