“We look upon this shaken Earth, and we declare our firm and fixed purpose — the building of a peace with justice in a world where moral law prevails. The building of such a peace is a bold and solemn purpose. To proclaim it is easy. To serve it will be hard. And to attain it, we must be aware of its full meaning — and ready to pay its full price… We seek peace, knowing that peace is the climate of freedom.” ~ President Dwight D. Eisenhower - Second Inaugural address (January 21,1957) As long as there is mental illness, narcissism, bullies & tyrants (for which I cannot rationalize will ever cease), the threats to peace & liberty will perpetually exist. “To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace... If we are wise, let us prepare for the worst.” - 1st US President George Washington

I totally support NAS Whidbey Island ~ I know we train the "best of the best" and live within 5 minutes of the base. They are determined to protect and serve ~ and I am proud to say I appreciate their efforts on our behalf so we may have many freedoms.

I believe all the in flight training being accomplished at NAS Whidbey and OLF Coupeville are essential and critical to Naval Aviation's contribution to our National Defense.

As a resident of island county for more than 50 years I appreciate the Navy's presence on Whidbey Island. Without it, property values would decrease albeit opponents of OLF believe closing the field would significantly raise their property values. They bought housing cheap knowing the Navy resides here. If it didn't bother them then, it shouldn't bother them now. Please keep OLF open for not only our community, but for our country.

Whidbey has provided a vital service for the Navy for many years, from the time they bought Ault Field from my great-grandfather. Then I married a career Navy man. Oak Harbor and the Navy need Whidbey. It's location is ideal for training, but also for defense.

I fully support the Navy's presence on Whidbey Island, not only because they contribute significantly to the local economy, but because of the mission they perform in combat, they contribute significantly to the nation's security. FCLP landing practice is essential to enabling them to do their job to the best of their ability.
