Sad, scary, and hopefully not too late to save the reefs!

I would like to support the effort being made to limit CO2 concentrations to a level that will safeguard the future of coral and the future of our planet for generations yet to come.

I and my colleagues here support the ISRS statement on Coral Bleaching & Climate Change. I am technical adviser for a local ngo in Aceh,Sumatra,Indonesia. We have been assisting local fishing leaders and the local government to set up marine protected areas to try and curb the degradation of the marine ecosystems ,especially coral reefs. Many very low income fishing communities depend on the marine life around these reefs for their livelihoods. Climate change is already a reality here with rising sea levels, loss of beaches, intermittent bleaching and reducing numbers of fish.
