I fully agree that popular opinion does not determine the morality of an action. This makes neutrality on EAS a stance that a profession that has standards that give it the status of Profession cannot take. As physicians, we are entrusted with the very lives of our patients. To treat them the way that is "popular" would mean that we have no ethical standards of our own, but rely on popular opinion to guide us.
This would thus erase the meaning of what a profession is that has standards of practice.

I took the traditional Hippocratic oath which states I will kill no one, even of they ask me to, nor will I suggest it. I take this seriously. I will NEVER be part of assisting in someone's death (and I have been asked) with that as the intended end point.
