Slaughtering animals in the way specified in the rules of Islamic slaughter does not cause pain as it severs important nerves. So what is the argument for making non-stunned slaughtering illegal? It makes no difference to the animal but makes a huge problem for muslims who cannot eat stunned chicken due to the possibility that stunning can kill.
