Petition for Synthetic All-Weather Playing Surface

I fully support the building of a turf field for multipurpose and multisport usage. I am a former student athlete at Iroquois, have several young children at Iroquois, and am also a healthcare professional in the field of orthopedics and sports medicine. I think it needs to also be understood in the community that the turf is an excellent addition to allow for proper training and field access especially in WNY weather .... but it should also be understood that turf is not the end all be all. Turf has been shown in several recent studies that injuries do increase when playing solely on turf in 4 sports... football, boys and girls soccer, and rugby. Education on appropriate footwear and equipment is important. I think turf however is an excellent addition to the Iroquois facilities, not replacement of the current grass.

Turf is an integral part of a new facility. The playing surface is the centerpiece!

An excellent opportunity for the students to grow and compete as athletes. Grass should not even be a consideration.

I don’t think it should wait until October- think it should happen now!

Cut my school taxes! This is a start...saves thousands every year in field maintenance alone!

I’m in favor of the synthetic field, I just would like to see the “why” behind each argument articulated more clearly for all to deliberate. What are the perceived pros and cons and impacts?

I fully support an all weather turf field and am asking the school board to do the right thing.

This has been way to long in the making. However, if this petition is part of getting it done then lets go!

Sports are such an important part of the high school experience for many students. Let's get ICS students on the same playing field as other districts.

Every student in the district participates in physical education, K-12. What a amazing opportunity for all Iroquois students to benefit from a turf field complex.

One Capital Project, One Proposition!

We NEED better sports facilities for our students!

I am in support of a multi use turf field for Iroquois.

It's time to take this amazing opportunity to provide a turf field for our students and our community. Let's do this project the right way the first time around. If there is no tax increase, then this is a no brainer. We are asking the board to do the right thing.

This is not just for athletics.... This would be an asset for the whole student body and community!!

So many benefits to turf, if this a real opportunity it is a no brainer!
