we got the news today that the insurance cover is officially being reinstated. i am honestly blown away that we pulled this off and so grateful to everyone who helped us get here. lets keep watching to make sure the transition goes smoothly for all the midwives.
The Irish Nurses Organisation (INO) announced last week that from September 30, 2007 they will cease to offer insurance cover to Independent Midwives.
This is a devastating blow to Ireland's hardworking Independent Midwives and for the women all across the Country who desire homebirths.
The Association for Improvements in the Maternity Services (AIMS) Ireland asks for your signature in order to show support for Independent Midwives and the tremendous services they offer.
We, the undersigned, petition to the INO to immediately reinstate malpractice insurance cover for Independent Midwives in Ireland.
i honestly cant believe how many people have jumped on this board and started speaking up for homebirths. seeing all these messages is giving me so much energy to keep pushing the ino to fix this situation.

Fix this. Insurance should be available for everyone. Stop penalizing the professionals who help families so much.

Absolutely ridiculous. Leave the midwives alone. They provide such an important service to irish mothers.

My wife had a homebirth and it was the best experience of our lives. These midwives are experts and deserve to be supported not forced out.

Women deserve to have choices about how they bring their babies into the world. Dont take this away from us.

What about our rights? We should be able to decide where we give birth. This is just bullying.
