We ask that Irish Water be compelled, by legislative or administrative means, to cease collection of PPS numbers and that already collected numbers be deleted. There are alternative ways, especially in relation to children, to prove eligibility for allowances. It is unclear that these PPS numbers will be safeguarded in the event of a privatisation. Their collection is not needed, and given the other information to which they are linked, any data breach would be very serious.
