IRISH GOVERNMENT OPEN ALL EMPTY HOUSES AND HOTELS FOR THE HOMELESS

Give homes to the genuine homeless, not the ones who get kicked out because they wont pay rent or destroy properties.

i want the government to get their heads out of their holes, and cop-on to the plight of their own people before taking in refugees from other countries, i am not racist, i am just fed up with the fact that our own is being ignored, while people from other countries, are being looked after better then our own people.

Deputy, I have another proposal. Given that there are over 280,000 vacant homes owned by the banks, and given that the banks owe the taxpayer in excess of 60 billion, could the government not take all the vacant homes in part exchange for the billions owed us? It would appear that since there are at least 10 vacant homes for every homeless person, that we could also give every one a Holiday Home as well as a primary residence and still have homes left over so young people could afford housing. Because FG & FF have made it so easy to repossess homes, banks are even doing it illegally in many cases. The governments interference in a Free Market, by setting up the PRTB, makes it extremely difficult for people to even rent a home. A one-year tenancy is now a minimum requirement and landlords must pay 100 euro per tenant, which is passed on to the renter. The Dept for Social Protection have also caused havoc by telling tenants to re-negotiate lower rents with their landlord, often with disastrous results. Previous government intervention has been inept and has only compounded the problems. I didn't see figures released for what the unfortunate Taxpayer has paid to prop up the Property market. Every time a bank makes a person homeless, the taxpayer has to step in and provide Emergency Accommodation or Rent Subsidy. This is absolute madness when there are 280,000+ People-Less-Homes that the government can access, due to the fact the banks owe us billions. The economic justification for my proposal is simple. The Government needs to decide between the People or the Vulture Funds. The price of Property is unsustainable given the amount of vacant homes. The government could take 100,000 homes from the banks as part-payment and it wouldn't cost the taxpayer anything. The result of homing every person in Ireland who needs a home or is on Rent Allowance, would naturally be that rents would fall due to Supply & Demand. Rents would spiral downwards rather

Open up all empty houses NOW and give them to the homeless and to anyone else that needs one and STOP giving them to Nama - you have an Obligation to look after the people - any more deaths on the streets because of the winter cold weather will be more blood on your hands - start doing what you were elected to do or pay the price in the next elections

The Irish govt are a disgrace and should be ashamed of themselves instead of rewarding TD's for the poor work they do they should be thinking of the less fortunate in this country and using that extra money to provide a roof, shelter and food for the unfortunate families who have found themselves in this dire situation thanks to the greed of the bankers and the Irish Government. Shame on you all!!!!! There are many boarded up homes and buildings that with that money could have been renovated to accommodate those families in need and what did you do but put it in your own well lined pockets ... you are voted in by the people and wouldn't have a job only for them so come on all you representatives do the right thing and act now before even more families find themselves in the same situation.

This is a no brainer. I was in Dublin City centre Thursday evening and the numbers attending the food stand, shower bus and clothing van on O'Connel Street were shocking. This really needs to be done asap

No House Should be Left Empty for More Than Six Months. Compulsory Purchase, That Tax Money from Apple would Buy a Lot Of These Property's Enough to House Everybody.

Disgraceful that this is needed, we are better than this and it should have been done years ago
