Let's hope the introduction of microchipping will help change this crazy practice where responsible owners can be located and dogs saved.

All these innocents dogs are entitled to the chance of a proper home and this needs to stop now! This is not the dogs fault, its human error as usual!

Shouldn't be put down regardless, but 5 days is waaaay too little time to rehome them.

Every dog deserves a chance as they are all beautiful animals. 5 days is a disgrace

I think the pounds do the best they can and do a great job to help unwanted animals with what's available to them. It's heart breaking to see so many abandoned animals needlessly being put down, 11 years ago we rescued a dog from death row and she is amazing, I would recommend anyone looking for a pet to visit a pound 1st, Kimmy is such an asset to our family and we love her dearly.

5 days doesn't give owners a chance to find their dogs... especially with dogs being stolen, then being relocated 100's of miles away. A case yesterday of a red setter stolen, starved and tied up on such a short lead it couldn't exercise then Leitrim Animal Rescue saved and rehabilitated this dog. Then they found its original owners 18 months after it was stolen. You're depriving not only the dogs of life but the owners who genuinely are searching for their loved pets of a life together. Social media is free, the cameras in your smartphones are good enough to take pix of the dogs and search for the dogs original owners or find homes. People in your local area are kind and would donate or volunteer. Stop being lazy putting dogs down because you can't be bothered to make an effort. You are obviously in the wrong job with the wrong temperament.

It's a very sad state of affairs that animals are treated like this. To think that this is happening in this day and age is heartbreaking
