A dog in the office is one of the best ways of beating stress at work, advises a top stress expert. Reduced stress, lower blood pressure and the release of human feel-good hormones are just some of the reasons why every office should have a dog.
Research in America, meanwhile, has shown that stroking a dog can help reduce stress and lower blood pressure.
Advertising/ Media and Creative agencies are traditionally stressful places to work, but one character leading a dog’s life is Monsieur Brown, a Lurcher who is top dog at the Kunde & Co, an ad agency in central London. BAll Kunde & Co’s staff can be seen intermittently walking past and rubbing behind Brown’s ears and feeding him nibbles. ‘He’s lovely and very soothing, he really is,’ says Karime Kendra.
So why do we need a dog?
First of all it is great for employer brand marketing! Just think about the Tatler dog! We can tweet, we can facebook, we can use the (well - trained) dog for pitches!
The dog will be of no nuisance to anyone. It will not be a cause for distraction as it will be kept within HR. Of course, people can stroke, if they feel stressed!
The dog will promote a healthier happier environment - this is a proven fact.
The dog will reduce turnover (FACT)
A dog walk a day keeps the stress and doctor away
The dog will love you on a day no one else does!
So I need all heads of business to help me prove my point and sign this petition. Please allow me to have my SMALL dog (Kevin) in the office and prove to you the stress busting qualities a dog can have... Consider it a benefit like health care. It’s a huge attraction!
P.S Debbie has said it's fine with her!!!
