This needs to be taken seriously, as the consequences of bullying can be devastating.

All bullying should be highlighted to parents no matter what the schools thoughts are. The school are acting in 'loco parentis' thus have a duty of care. If you beak down acts of bulling into its base form it's a criminal offence !!

I have a daughter in year 7 of middle school and Harlington Upper is a school I would be considering for her, the thought of bullying going on and not being dealt with and just pushed under the carpet horrifies me. How far does a form of bullying have to go before the school take it seriously?

No one should have to endure bullying. But sadly it is part of life today.

Bullying is never ok, the adults who overlook it are worse than the bullies themselves!

This school has had enough chances to sort out bullying. Time to get a new head in to turn things around for these poor children!!

Bullying is not a one-off incident. Bullying is repeatedly being abusive to someone else. Therefore, the comment was just a simply rude comment, and not an incident of bullying.

Furthermore, I would like to say that if your child is being bullied and does not tell anybody about it (e.g. staff, head of house etc.) then that is not something the school can deal with. How can they deal with an issue that they are not informed about?

I am currently a student at Harlington and would just like to point out that Harlington has hardly any bullying. All of the bullying that does occur definitely results in consequences for the bully (such as exclusion). Bullying won't stop whatever school you go to, so if you think that sending your child to a different school will mean they won't get bullied you are incorrect. Harlington has very little bullying incidences and, when they do have them, they deal with them in an effective and brisk manner.
I'd also like to point out that the school has changed significantly in the past 2 decades and just because you were bullied when you were here (which was quite a long time ago) doesn't mean the school hasn't changed.

My daughter has been a victim too. I got to the end of my tether and named and shamed the girls involved. Apparently they have been cautioned but we shall see if that has any effect!

I agree with that. My daughter also a victim but I wanted to wait next couple of weeks before i take action. Now this petition came into my email for good and I am supporting this 100%. This is not only about my daughter but there are many other children also are victim and silent and there no action has been taken.
