I am very concerned about the worst prison in the United States, North Branch Correctional Institution because of the inhumane treatment they have given my step-father since he's been housed here for the past four years. He was in the Feds for over 30 years as an inmate, but when he came to NBCI he experienced the worst times of his incarcerated life. He locked down 24 hours a day and the food the feed him in paper bags never is the proper temperature. I'm going to call the Health Department because food should be cooked at a certain temperature so the inmates will not get sick.

When I visit my son, he has to be shackled, hands in handcuffs, chained to his waist, then chained to his legs, and hehind glass. The handcuffs are so tight, they make ridges in his wrists! Is this really called for?? Maybe Martin O'Malley should go to work like this!!! He seems to have made these rules and decisions!!! Showers now once a week, there for a while it was every other week, and bagged meals for months!!! Treated like animals, no wait, my animal is treated better than this!!!!!!!!!!

It is time to end the mistreatment and the cover-ups and to remember that no matter what an individual has been convicted of in a court, he or she is still a human being and should be treated with dignity and respect.

I absolutely agree with every word of this petition. I've been trying very hard to get the Governor of MD's attention as well as legislative makers. Since I've joined CURE, I've realized that there is strength in numbers and unity.

The Justice System is one that needs to be revamped. There are prisoners who have served their time & some; therefore they should be allowed to come home & start over as law abiding citizens. No one deserves inhumane treatment. This situation at hand is unacceptable from the hire ups to those who report to them!

I have seen first hand how these people do as they please to inmates without any fear of being punished. They violate every thing that the prison has set in place as far as rules and they do it because they can. They've been breaking laws for a long time with no reprecussions and I've been told to complain to whoever I want. They know that they will not be held accountable. They create a hostile environment by forcing volatile inmates to live under horrible conditions. They've even gone as far to keep them from communication with family by denying them phone calls. This place needs to be shook down from the warden and down because he allows this behavior.

I TOO HAVE HEARD ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON THERE, AND IT IS TRULY SAD TO KNOW THAT THEY ARE BEING VIOLATED. EVEN IF THEY COMMITTED A CRIME, THAT DOES NOT MAKE THEM INHUMAN AT ALL, PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS SO THAT THEY CAN'T GET AWAY WITH TREATING PEOPLE SO HORRIFIC
