As professionals, entrepreneurs and concerned citizens in position to hire or make hiring recommendations in our workplace or company we would like to express our concern on the matter of the language finance classes are provided in at the UPR-RP. It has come to our attention there is a debate going on of whether a “single session” required class should be provided in English. We see nothing wrong with this. In fact, we believe taking classes wholly in English would help ensure the UPR-RP Finance students are competitive worldwide once they obtain their degrees. We understand for cultural reasons most classes will be given in Spanish but demonstrating dominion of the subject with at least one advanced Finance class in English should actually be an internal requirement for graduation from your department. It would be tough for any of us to hire or recommend a recent graduate who does not have the skill set to interact with international peers and a class like this could be a good starting point to ensure all your students meet this standard. Hope we have been of help.

Thank you for all your hard work.
