We feel strongly that the American school system has done a very poor job of educating our students, both black and white, in African American history. For centuries, we have been psychologically enslaved by the white bourgeois to learn only of their inventors, scholars, authors, political figures, poets, etc. By signing this petition you are actively engaging in a fight that we are prepared to take all the way to the Supreme Court in order to make African American Studies a required course all students, of every race and ethnic background, must take. America, this so called great country, was built on the backs of blacks and its time that students be engaged in learning the true history of America. Some of the greatest inventors, authors, philosophers, politicians, scholars, etc. were African American, and we want children to be taught about them.
