Petition to Go Green at Souhegan

We, the undersigned, support the idea of switching to a more eco-friendly way of powering the school. Energy is used everyday at schools, from lighting classrooms to heating and cooling the school . Unfortunately, these beneficial uses of energy are not powered by a clean source. Currently, there are some eco-friendly materials such as brown paper napkins and brown paper towels inside the school. Solar panels should be built along the school premises to reduce money spent on electricity, help the environment, and use the money towards other additions to the school.

Solar installations for energy instead of natural gases can make the school even more eco-friendly. According to Solar by Empire, a company that focuses on installing solar panels throughout the U.S, for every 1 kilowatt per hour of solar energy that is produced, 300 pounds of carbon is excluded from the atmosphere. This is a small amount compared to the global carbon emissions but if we start solar installations, there are possibilities of influencing other schools around us to join in.

As an additional bonus feature to solar installations, Souhegan can make money from solar panels . For additional energy created that Souhegan is not using can be sold back to the company that installed the panels. This money can be put towards salaries, other additions to the school, textbooks and other school materials. By signing this petition you are supporting this idea of installing solar panels to be more eco-friendly.
