This has to be the most hazardous zebra crossing in the country - Oldhams councillors have a lot to answer for and should hang their heads in shame over their scandalous non-actions at this dangerous spot. The railings do not help as they obscure a drivers view when travelling in the direction of Rochdale (although they need to be there to stop children dashing into the road at other sections of the road). A pelican crossing is neccessary but I do not think that this is the total answer. This is a very busy road and drivers should be more aware of what is happening 100 yards down the road and not just immediately in front of their bonnets.

This crossing is in a very busy and demanding place and has needed alteration for the safety of pedestrians. So very, very sorry for both the young girls and their families and the van driver and theirs. A heart breaking tragedy and deepest condolences to all.

very saddened to hear about this tragic accident that could have been avoided if OMBC had pulled their finger out...how many more deaths or bad accidents will it take for the right measures to be taken. My heart felt sympathys go out to the family and friends of the poor young girl who has lost her life .
