infertility is treated like a dirty word and it needs to change. One in six couples in Canada struggle with infertility. Isn't bad enough that you or someone close to you has had to suffer in silence. This is a medical condition that represents an emotionally devastating and unanticipated life event. Everyone deserves support when dealing with a medical condition. The treatments are physically and emotionally demanding and very expensive. To date our government and Health care have began to realize the need to fund necessary fertility treatments. Shouldn't our extended healthcare do the same?

In countries around the world that fund fertility treatments it has been proven that funding actually saves money by reducing the incidence of complicated and expensive multiple pregnancies and improving medical outcomes for both the mother and the babies. Assisting Flight Attendants is therefore not only the right thing to do but also it is the logical and smart thing to do.

Did you know that if a flight attendant books off because they are undergoing treatment they are not covered. That their book-off will not be considered legitimate reason. Do you think that this is right? Not only are their medication cost not covered but now they have to plea with management to get the time off.

The purpose of this petition is to inform our union of the importance of family and to demonstrate that Flight Attendants support insurance coverage. This will not only save money but also facilitate safer pregnancies and healthier babies when fertility treatments are required.

We would ask you to print and sign the petition to mail to your local union office as this is the only official way in which we can present a petition to our union.

We encourage you to tell all of your co-workers and friends who you believe would support this petition to sign as well.

Thank you for taking a step in changing the way "infertility" is looked as.
