Currently there are no indoor weather warning systems to alert students and faculty to adverse weather events at the IUPUI campus. Our current weather warning systems which are in place are through e-mails or text-messages. While the e-mail and text message system is a good idea, it doesnt fully cover all ground during getting warnings out to Students and staff. When we are inside the classroom, we are not necessarily aware of the weather conditions outside. The only way we would know, is if we are checking or logging onto our e-mails, or looking at texts. Both activities as we know are actually discouraged during class session. Thus, it could be very dangerous for those of us who don`t get the warning to get to safety in time. I believe it would be beneficial for the classrooms and/or hallways have some form of audible weather warning system, to alert people inside buildings during severe weather and tornadoes, to get underground, or the nearest safest location in the area, before such a storm hits. This is a concern for the safety of the students, staff and visitors alike!
