People with misdemeanors find themselves facing the same types of scrutiny ex-felons convicted of terrible crimes. Even though a misdemeanor is supposedly a lesser crime, people with these types of convictions are unable to find employment, they are subject to severe discrimination, and biased opinions of society. I say we should ask for limitations on background checks when it comes to misdemeanor convictions. Should we still be punishing people who made simple mistakes in their lives 10, 15, or 20 years ago?
