Indiana Women's Appeal to Rep. Susan Brooks
We, women of Indiana and supporters of these women, call upon Representative Susan Brooks to extend her connection with her constituents and her commitment to women through the following actions:
1) Holding at least 3 Town Hall meetings in Indiana over the course of 2017. The direct large-audience discourse will help women understand Rep. Brooks' positions, and share their concerns in a group manner.
2) Making a promise that she will work to uphold the level of women's healthcare provided currently under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In other words, we ask not to go backwards in terms of women's health care. This includes working to ensure continuation of the following services without co-payment or coinsurance (as listed at https://www.healthcare.gov/preventive-care-women/):
- For women pregnant or seeking to become pregnant: breastfeeding support (including supplies) and counseling; contraception; folic acid supplements; screening for anemia, gestational diabetes, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis B, Rh incompatibility, Syphilis, urinary tract or other infections; tobacco intervention and counseling.
- Preventative services for women: breast cancer mammography; screening for cervical cancer, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, HIV, HPV, osteoporosis, Rh incompatibility, Syphilis, tobacco use, domestic and interpersonal violence; counseling for breast cancer genetic testing, breast cancer chemoprovention, domestic and interpersonal violence, HIV, sexually transmitted infections; tobacco use interventions; and well-woman visits.
We make these requests based on our commitment to the well-being of all Hoosiers.
