The Republic of Somaliland, formerly British Somaliland Protectorate gained its full independence on June 26th1960. Five days after recognition the government of Somaliland chose to join Italian Somaliland (Somalia)which gained its independence on the 1st of July 1960.Thetwo regions didn't agree on much which in turn led to a long civil war between the two.

Over half a million Somalilander's were killed andmillions of them fled the country for their safety. However, since then Somaliland declared its own independence from Somalia on May 18th 1991 and has become a land of peace and sovereignty.

Well known for its fast development; Somaliland has accomplished almost everything but independence.
