This petition is to the governor of the state of Pennsylvania to increase the capacity of indoor sports during the Covid-19 Pandemic from 25 people to 60 people. This will allow for enough people to play basketball, ice hockey, volley ball and most other indoor sports. With only 25 people allowed in the building at a time, most sporting events can not operate. Raising the capacity will allow for full teams, on and off court/ice officials, coaching staff, facility staff, and any other medical or other required support personnel. The same precautions that are being taken with 25 persons would remain in effect during this health crisis (ie. wearing masks, social distancing, taking temperatures etc).
Youth sports are critical to the development, mental well being and physical health of our children. Sports will provide a sense of normalcy along with a positive outlet for the energy.

I was just looking at the emails from parents who are trying to figure out how to balance these restrictions with their kids wanting to actually play again and it is overwhelming how much this matters for their mental health. I am trying to get a straight answer from someone in the governor's office but mostly I just get sent to automated links that ignore the logistical nightmare of running a hockey game with only twenty five people. We really need them to see the actual math behind these rosters because it makes no sense to ignore the staff who keep everything safe inside the building.

I just looked at the screen and realized we are almost at one hundred signatures which is honestly kind of wild for a Tuesday afternoon. If everyone currently reading this could reach out to just one other person in their local sports community we would blast right past that milestone before dinner time.

My children play ice hockey. These are huge venues that are much larger than my local gym that has a capacity limit of 100. It’s impossible for teams to play under this limit when including refs, coaches, score keepers, staff. Please reconsider.
I work in healthcare. The numbers do not support the action taken. Please consider a movement allow normal games. We played 60 baseball games at 12 u this summer with no problems. Everyone is safe and healthy. Regards in advance Jordan Grant DMD
My son plays ice hockey and is too young to put on his equipment and be left alone at the rink. We need one parent to be able to be with him. With the proper safety precautions in place, rinks will be safe with 60 people at a game.
The numbers allowed within stores is greater than a hockey rink or court. Square footage should be taken into account. I can spend an hour or more shopping at Marshall’s (132 allowed) but our arenas are 25. It makes no sense. Please raise the number!!!
The physical and mental health benefits of participation in youth sport are well documented. A common sense approach that takes into account the personnel needs of a particular sport is nothing more than common sense.
Some Governors are so intent on keeping their states locked down tight, and it has nothing to do with keeping their citizens safe from the coronavirus pandemic, it’s for political reasons. It's because they're terrified that a rebounding economy will Increase President Trump’s chances for a reelection success on November 3 and so they choose to punish their citizens by not opening their states. Think before you Vote: President Trump’s continued economic recovery as evidence of his administration's success or Joe Biden a Career politician, ALL Talk No Action, Who has Nothing to Show for 47 years in Washington, D.C., it’s a “no brainer”.
Want to watch my grandson play hockey for EF!

Since restaurants and stores can be open based on a percentage of their normal maximum capacity, the same should apply to indoor hockey rinks. The margins on running an ice rink are small and we need to ensure these rinks and small business owners stay open!
