Increased Security at the Colony
We, the undersigned, would like increased security at both our gates. It has come to our attention that people from Pelican Landing, the Hyatt and as far away as the community of Rapallo are utilizing the Bay Club. They bike in or walk in and come to our "breakfast" in the morning. They come for a sunset and a drink on the 3rd floor and leave. They also have dinner on the 3rd floor. Since they pay by cash, there is no indication they are not residents. There is also a problem with residents from other communities who are on our permanent lists--they have access as well. In addition, non-equity members of the Colony golf course are utilizing the Bay Club. Therefore, we need increased security at our gates. We are asking that the Bay Club door be locked and access granted by swiping a card, as we do at the workout area at the Community Center. If not, the staff at the Bay Club checks our Bay Club ID's and asking for an ID when drinks or food are purchased, even though the individual is paying by cash. We know this could be an inconvenience to the residents, especially in the morning "breakfast", but we need to deter those who do not belong and pay dues to the Bay Club.Ryan Morris, who is the PrivacyManager, said that an increased security system was presented to The Colony and it was not entertained. Perhaps a gate on the walkway at both entrances to our community, as well as a sensor that goes off in the security booth as someone walks by.The next meeting of Security will be held on Monday, February 27th at 8:30 am at the Community Center. At this time, the e-petition will be presented. All are welcome to attend. Please pass this petition along to Colony residents.
