We, the residents on Avila Road in San Mateo, support the "critical need" for painting the curbs red at the corners of Avila Road and Alameda de las Pulgas as soon as possible. Too often, throughout the week and during sports or school events at Aragon High School, autos, SUV's, trucks or vans are parked on Alameda de las Pulgas right up to the corner of Avila Road. This makes it virtually impossible for a driver wishing to turn from Avila onto Alameda to see oncoming cars. There have been too many accidents, many of which have not been reported to the police department, and numerous near accidents which could have been avoided if cars were not allowed to park on Alameda de las Pulgas at Avila Road. Lets protect not only our residents on Avila and in the Aragon community, but our many students who drive to and from school on Alameda de las Pulgas.
The city officials can no longer pretend this is just a minor complaint from a few neighbors. They are forcing us to gamble with our lives every time we turn onto Alameda and it is time for them to pick up a paintbrush before someone gets killed.

Agree with everyone here. Why wait for a serious crash to happen before doing something about it?

Needs to be done ASAP. The parking near the corner makes it impossible to see oncoming traffic esp with all the high schoolers driving.

Been living on Avila for 10 years and the traffic is way worse now. The visibility at that intersection is a joke.

So dangerous. People fly down Alameda and you have to pull halfway out into the lane just to see if the road is clear.
