An overpass is needed at Hwy 31 and Heritage Pkwy. Since April 2019, 6 deaths have occurred here. With speed limit of 75mph on 31, cars appear quickly from around the curve and hill.

I am a volunteer firefighter/EMT and I have responded to several of these accidents at this intersection. 3 have been fatality accidents. With the City of Waco planning on putting a landfill directly off 939 and 31, they say they will have 400-600 trucks driving this road daily. Can you imagine an increase in truck traffic to this death trap? Can you imagine the horrific carnage that will exist at these two intersections of something isn’t done? How can TxDot find money to improve the infrastructure of FM 939 to satisfy the City of Waco’s useless needs, but can’t find the money to complete the original project of overpasses at these two intersections? If it sounds like I am angry - I AM! How many lives have to be lost in order for something substantial to be done? Not lights, or rumble strips, or curb bumps - WE NEED OVERPASSES HERE OR THE DEATH RATE WILL CONTINUE TO RISE!!!!

Two more deaths occurred this morning at one of these stops. They should put up stop lights like they did on Hwy 6. There is no reason to allow this death trap of a road system to keep claiming lives. Instead of poorly paving roads that were perfectly fine and then having to pave them all over was a waste of money. That money should’ve been used towards safer alternatives than a small stop sign at these intersections.

I travel 31 daily from Hubbard to Waco. Heritage Pkwy and 939 are very dangerous.
