Increase safety along Geyer Rd from Watson Rd. to Big Bend Rd

We live at 437 Geyer Forest Dr. We have only lived at this address for 7 years, but in that short time many more families with young children have moved into our neighborhood. Our hope is that increased safety measures can be implemented to reduce the potential for injury.

We have lived at South Geyer and Windsor for 27 years and have witnessed too many accidents to count, many with injuries. A stop sign in the southbound lane would force the drivers who are flying down Geyer to slow down. This has been a hazard for years and the City needs to address this before someone is killed.

The addition of "Do Not Block Intersection" signs at both Forest Glen and Geyer Forest has done nothing to allow drivers to access Geyer when Meramec is in session. It is not just the students who ignore the signs, it's everyone. I support increased safety in this area and would like to see more police presence in all four directions at Geyer and Big Bend and the addition of some type of traffic calming on Geyer south of Big Bend.

In addition to the other recommendations, I recommend lowering the speed limit to 25 mph. Thirty is too fast for this very narrow part of Geyer, with all the bicycle traffic.

We need stop signs. At minimum a set at Forest Glen.

Tara, i think have walkway strips painted as cross walks on the street will also help reinforce the need to slow down. ken

There was a car that flipped over into my front yard just steps from the bus stop! Just hours before the elementary kiddos were picked up

The issues range from safety to pedestrians walking on sidewalk. to an actual car crossing the curb and falling into the frontyard of the home onm the corner of Geyer and Oakshire Lane (as traveling north on Geyer). That person wasn't injured - but sped and narrowness of Geyer led to a vehicle in a neighbors front yard!

I noticed a stream of traffic coming from the south this morning that was non-stop. Something must be done.

Another suggestion may be to ask Meremac not to schedule classes at 8:00 am. If they had them start at 7:30 and 8:30. It would decrease traffic around 8:00 am when kids are being picked up for school.

1229 Oakshire Lane

This stretch has always been a problem area and the problem has escalated through the years due to increasing driver inattention. Speed limits are ignored and drivers are often driving well over by the time they reach the area between Orchard Lane and Idlewild. Only coming to a complete stop in this stretch will slow traffic and ensure safety.

As a parent with two small children who lives on Geyer Forest Drive, we often take walks in the neighborhood and are very concerned with the lack of access to sidewalks if we want to walk south on Geyer from Geyer Forest Drive. The sidewalk on the east side of Geyer dead ends before we can reach Forest Glen Ln. There is not a good crosswalk if we go north on Geyer toward Big Bend in an attempt to walk south on Geyer on the west side of the street (where the sidewalk is). Therefore, we end up crossing Geyer where there is no crosswalk and it feels very unsafe. Additionally, with the sidewalk on the west side of Geyer right up next to the road, it makes me nervous to think of a vehicle jumping the curb or my children accidentally veering toward the road with no buffer of grass between road and sidewalk.

We need to use S. Geyer to access any other roads. I run often, and my three kids use a bus stop for Robinson Elementary on S. Geyer. The lack of sidewalks and safe crosswalks makes this part of S. Geyer very unsafe for pedestrians. I hope action is taken before someone gets hurt.

As a citizen who walks more slowly than I used to be able to walk. I would hesitate to take walks as sidewalks force me cross the street without the aid of crosswalks.

Too often issues like this are pushed aside due to expenses, then only pursued after a major incident or loss of life occurs. Increased signage and crosswalks will help, but I'd like to see a major rehaul to the street similar to what was done to Elm in Webster a few years back.

We live on S Geyer road with two girls 5 & 6 years old. In the two years we have lived there a biker was hit in front of our house and taken away in an ambulance. There was a three car accident with one can in my neighbors yard and one car in our yard/driveway. A car drove off geyer road and turned over across the street where the kids catch the bus. And I have seen Vianne cross country HS students running along geyer stepping in and out of the street.

I also believe the intersection at Big Bend and Geyer could be improved by adding a sidewalk along Geyer north of Big Bend on the west side along Mermac Community College. As it is currently laid out pedestrians have to wait to cross two busy lanes of traffic to access the sidewalk on the east of Geyer North of Big Bend. I have thought of moving just because of this intersection.
