The city has formally approved the installation of the proposed crosswalks and traffic signs along Geyer Road. I appreciate the professional efforts of everyone who helped bring this adjustment to light. We will continue to observe traffic patterns to ensure these new safety measures are respected by all drivers.

The Kirkwood citizens of South Geyer (Watson Rd to Big Bend Rd) have seen increased traffic and speed on our street which have raised many safety concerns and because of the lack of adequate sidewalks, we recommend to in order to deter traffic from South Geyer and enforce the speed limit, therefore increasing the walkabilty of our citizens both young and old, we propose increased signage such as 1-2 crosswalks/signage for the non-sidewalk side of S Geyer to gain access to a sidewalk on the other side of S Geyer and 1-2 stop signs to be added to our stretch of South Geyer.

We have lived at South Geyer and Windsor for 27 years and have witnessed too many accidents to count, many with injuries. A stop sign in the southbound lane would force the drivers who are flying down Geyer to slow down. This has been a hazard for years and the City needs to address this before someone is killed.
In addition to the other recommendations, I recommend lowering the speed limit to 25 mph. Thirty is too fast for this very narrow part of Geyer, with all the bicycle traffic.
The issues range from safety to pedestrians walking on sidewalk. to an actual car crossing the curb and falling into the frontyard of the home onm the corner of Geyer and Oakshire Lane (as traveling north on Geyer). That person wasn't injured - but sped and narrowness of Geyer led to a vehicle in a neighbors front yard!
We need to use S. Geyer to access any other roads. I run often, and my three kids use a bus stop for Robinson Elementary on S. Geyer. The lack of sidewalks and safe crosswalks makes this part of S. Geyer very unsafe for pedestrians. I hope action is taken before someone gets hurt.
Too often issues like this are pushed aside due to expenses, then only pursued after a major incident or loss of life occurs. Increased signage and crosswalks will help, but I'd like to see a major rehaul to the street similar to what was done to Elm in Webster a few years back.
I think the slower traffic on Geyer is very helpful. I was one of the people who got hit by a speeding car trying to pull out of Orchard Lane.

My wife, Kathy and I have lived on Orchard Lane for 36 years. Traffic on north and south Geyer Road has become hazardous because it is an unmonitored speedway getting to Meramec C.C. in the a.m and 44 in the p.m. Dick Drummond
