Government funding for education in Colorado is among the lowest in the nation. In fact, funding for higher education has dropped 48% in the last 8 years. This is the largest decrease nationwide during this time period. Colorado State University alone has seen a $37.6 million dollar decrease in funding. This does not only hurt the institutions, but the students as well.
For the Government to increase funding in education would mean that there would be more people gaining an education, leading to more qualified workers, and ultimately a higher tax revenue back to the government. To increase funding would be buying into their own system.
By presenting this petition, I am hoping to raise awareness toward this issue, ultimately leading to a change in state education funding.

The emails to state officials are piling up with no real answers in sight. It feels exhausting to keep pushing for basic reinvestment when the silence from the top is so deafening.

Reaching this point has been an exhausting climb but seeing this level of momentum proves we are finally being noticed. The path ahead remains difficult yet I am not stepping back from the demand for real funding.

Tuition is crazy high these days. My kids cant even afford to go to school here without taking out massive loans that will take forever to pay back. Fix this.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS. How are we supposed to compete with other states when we slash funding like this?? Stop punishing the students.
