Physical therapists are the most qualified to provide rehab. That they are not allowed to treat in California, even under supervision, is hurting animals who need their service.

This is a no brainer. With additional training, PTs are well qualified to treat animals for rehab.

I have been practicing Animal Physical Therapy for the last 20 years in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine with referral from veterinarians. The referring veterinarians and clients are thrilled to have this option available to them and their companion animals.

I agree that licensed physical therapists with additional certification in animal rehabilitation by a RACE approved program should be allowed to provide animal rehab services under indirect veterinarian supervision.

As pet parents, we need all the access we can get to qualified therapists without unnecessary constraints from CA licensing restrictions that prevent it.

It’s a longstanding and widely accepted fact that people of all ages can benefit from our relationships with our pets. And just as people seek out the care of physical therapists and rehabilitation throughout their lifetime, animals are no different. Pets and owners deserve to have improved access to the care they need. This care, in turn, not only benefits these pets but also their humans.

I'm a certified canine rehabilitation physical therapist but can't work anywhere outside of a vet clinic. Its not fair for the animals or us.

My dog had surgery on her hind legs and rehabilitation helped her immensely in her recovery. She is now walking and even running with no issues.
