I have a dog who is going to require physical therapy for most of its life. This petition just makes logical sense.

physical therapy and alt/holistic care has saved/changed the lives of 3 of my dogs. I see the care and love that these valuable services provide our beloved companions and feel like it should be integrated into standard pet care.

Denying PTs autonomous practice insults the years of rigorous medical training. Physical Therapists who complete additional educational requirements in animal rehabilitation, should have autonomy to practice and treat the deserving animals of the community, providing the best level of care possible.

As someone who works in the canine rehabilitation field, it is so gut wrenching to see so many animals who NEED this help and can’t get it. We make other unnecessary things happen, so I don’t understand why we can’t make this happen.

I sat on the task force created to address this issue, which voted 10 to 7 in favor of creating an indirect supervision model. The full vet med board was deceived by a report produced by a dishonest member of the commission and voted against its recommendations. It’s time for the legislature to address this inequity.

Licensed rehab professionals are uniquely qualified to fill this gap in access for the public and their animal companions.

Pet owners should have the power of choice of qualified providers. Ensuring qualifications are consistent and transparent adds consumer (and animal) protection.

Our animals deserve the best! Making PTs more easily accessible can save 1000s from premature euthanization!

As a PT I have never had to work in a Physician's office or be supervised by an MD to treat a human, why would I need be fully supervised for treating an animal (dog, cat or horse). We have extensive training as CCRT's and are transferring our PT skills onto an animal body and they even have similar conditions we treat in a similar way only on a different scale. Pet owners shouldn't have limitations on Physical Therapist Rehabilitation for their animals! Vet offices are already strained and intensely busy that they don't need to be burdened by treatment that could be performed at the patients home or in another comfortable location and not at a stressful hospital/clinic where the vet is practicing. The animals don't need to be stressed while trying to relax and get better. Let us (PTs) treat all our furry friends like cats and dogs, in the manner that will allow us to be separate providers from the VETS! THANK YOU for your consideration!!

PT's cannot take the place of a veterinarian nor do we want to. We only want to provide the rehabilitative care for canines.
