It's disappointing to see the lack of representation on an international level in multi-sports, especially in Decathlon. Without inclusion at a national level, these sports will fizzle out in the UK. These events need to have equal status to inspire young athletes. It might also encourage field event representation which is also disappointing on an international level. Which such a rich heritage in UK multi-eventing, it requires the necessary and essential support of British athletics to continue and nurture talent within the country. These individuals are really the ultimate all-round athletes and should be given the necessary coverage and status. British athletics should be more than just supporting a handful of track athletes, especially middle-distance, widen the scope and interest of both competitors and the general public. Athletics is actually track and field.

Just discovered we have no British athletes competing in the Olympic Decathlon and am absolutely gutted. These events produce some of the greatest drama that we’ve ever seen in athletics; and getting to know the athletes must make such a difference in terms of inspiring new and up and coming young people to the sport. Please re think this!

Shocking that combined eventers do not have a UK summer trials opportunity for the olympics and future comps.

The proposed decisions do not make sense! The UK has produced soo many multi-event champions... Daley Thompson & Mary Peters...two of our earliest champions are still household names... The heptathletes and decathletes master 7 and 10 events...many of them at levels where they could, if chosen, compete in a number of individual events among the best in the world. Their discipline, dedication, grit, talent, intelligence, passion, and continued successes continue to inspire not only those who today are aspiring to follow in their footsteps but enthuse and excite the general sports fans., These athletes play an integral part in the global reputation and success of UK athletics. They need our support!

Remember the legacy that was the 1996
Atlanta Games when Team GB scored their lowest medal count. Support multi sport athletes.

Seems very short sighted to hamper one of our better events. Seems that it’s too much trouble so let’s not bother. What an attitude!

Track and field coach from the States at the college level. UK has been known for having some amazing heptathlete women at the Olympic level. Keep it in your championships so you can continue to receive great status and recognition at the Athletics level.

This is one of the only events I’m interested in - true athletes , jeopardy , specialities . Recently gb athletics have become focussed on one thing -medal hunters . Let the competition commence

Why turn your back on talented athletes who choose these Combined Event competitions to showcase what they’re really capable of?

This feels high-handed and very unfair on those athletes who have worked very hard towards a clear goal only to be denied the opportunity to compete.

This is ridiculous, how do you expect to get athletes competing at world, commonwealth and European level if its not deemed good enough for UK events and don't even give them a chance to compete.

This is appalling. To marginalise any event is bad, but Combined events already suffers from a lack of support from on high. UKA need to show respect for some of the most hardworking athletes in the sport.
