Dear 20th Century Fox/MGM
This petition has been made to try to make you aware of how displeased many fans are regarding your decision to not include the films original mono audio mix on its upcoming American Blu-Ray release. The reason why so many fans are angry is because the 5.1 track on the new disc is identical to the 5.1 track that was included on previous DVD releases and even this releases U.K. counterpart (which dropped the mono track).
The mono track is important is because it presents what the film sounded like back in 1984 when it was released into cinemas. When the 5.1 remix was created back in 2001, most of the sound effects and even the score were either changed or noticeably mixed differently. This caused a lot of controversy amongst fans who were angry with how the mix turned out. The mono track included on the films DVD releases (except in the U.K.) which is why it's baffling that it's not included on this new Blu-Ray release. Us fans want to watch the films new transfer with the original sound mix and you're denying us that. All we want is the option available on the disc, nothing more, nothing less. If you decide to accept this petition, please also include the audio in lossless form (DTS-HD Master Audio) and make the disc region free.
Many thanks,
The Fans
The new sound mix ruins the whole vibe of the movie. It just doesn't sound right compared to the theatrical cut we grew up with. Give us the mono track back!
