At Cornell University, the project teams are encouraged to be diverse in their recruitment and take students in all academic fields with an interest in learning and teamwork. The Cornell Concrete Canoe team is comprised of members in different fields of study: Materials Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and more. We also have members on our team who are not engineers, but contribute greatly to the team in non-technical fields such as our Aesthetics and Logistics subteams. At this time, the official rules for the National Concrete Canoe Competition state that students who are not engineers cannot register for the competition. This means they cannot participate in paddling for the races or give oral presentations. All our team members work hard, and we should not discriminate through major.
