Clearly a person that close to the Academy would never have violated the rules. Something is suspect here. Banish all songs with God in them I guess. Even if you have to twist the truth to do it. God and this beautiful song will survive, but we expect higher standards from our Academy. After all, many voted for the song to be nominated. Please restore honor outo something honorable you are.

After all the promotion done by major studios on behalf of their films, how can you possibly say Bruce has done anything unfair. I guess all it takes is $$$$

This is absolutely horrible, completely unfair. Someone needs to explain why it is ok to send out massive amount of promotional materials, yet an email is not ok?

I think the Academy needs to explain why it allows film companies to bombard Academy members with for your consideration materials, but disqualifies two songwriters who merely informed their colleagues that their song was on the list of eligible songs.

Despite the silly decision of the academy, at least all this hooplah gives the song extra exposure. That's something, I guess.

Bruce Broughton is one of the finest of all film music composers and seriously under-appreciated. As a composer myself perhaps this is more obvious than to those who mistake the effrect of music for good acting or direction.

Acts like this by the Board of Governors decreases the value of the Academy Award which was designed to honor skill and excellence apart from big money and influence.
