The hate needs to stop. It is frightening. So glad we have someone to stand up for us women.

The misogyny needs to end

Stop the hate against women. I share Rowlings view to protect women. Pro women does NOT make it anti trans, I cannot believe the stupidity to find that idiotic claim repeated endlessly. Nobody becomes a women by just declaring this. Try declaring yourself to be a bird and see if you can fly.

Thank you Ms. Rowling for your position on and your courage in addressing yet another misogynistic attack on women by militant transwomen and those that appear brainwashed by this movement who have missed the real support and intent behind this highjacked movement. The permanent medicalization of those transitioning and the billionaire money pushing it forward politically are the real intent. As usual, women are on the chopping block because men are so heavily influenced by our culture, that I doubt they care what a misery that have made living for half the planet, the ones that carry life and give birth, the unfortunate necessity (for now) called women.

I can't thank you enough for continuallyspeaking up and taking a stand on behalf of women and girls everywhere in the world. It brings great comfort and hope. I wish speaking up wouldn't come at the horrible price you have had to pay so far. And I would love if there were more we could do in support - apart from this signature, and speaking up ourselves of course.

She is right to defend women's hard earned rights. Trans women are not the same as real women. They will never have to worry about ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, breast cancer, menstrual cramps or unwanted pregnancy to name just a few of the biological injustices real women have to deal with. Any quite frankly, any man who won't have bottom surgery doesn't really want to be a woman.

Wonderful woman ,who knows what a woman is speaks up for us. Well done

I have worked in violence against women and supporting individuals with various needs including LGBTQ+ populations all of my adult life. I believe gender is a social construct (having various degrees in social and other issues). I believe individuals have the right to self expression but I also believe the various biological, social, cultural, political and psychological issues faced by woman are unique to this group, often result in reduced rights and victimisation and that therefore ‘woman’ needs to be legally defined and protected. I believe that minority groups such as LGBTQ* face their own challenges and needs which can co-exist with that of women and we can protect the rights of other minority but this should be with consideration to ensure that legal changes do not work to remove, undermining or minimise the rights and opportunities of women. I am concerned that our society has not understood these nuances which had the potential to severely undermine hundreds of years of fighting for women’s rights and have real social implications which I have always seen (such as women’s services loosing local authority funding). No matter what your position threats, violence, doxing and all the other ways in which JK Rowling and others who have spoken out for the rights of woman (and encouraged discourse on a complex issue) have been treated is both immoral and illegal.
