JK Rowling's decision to stand up for free speech, women's rights, and health care for LGB&T people which is free of homophobia at a time when the popular narratives have been in the other direction has been brave & principled and I find it astonishing how few public figures have been prepared to support her. Her determination not to repeat popular lies & to put her reputation on the line for what she believes in has made my admiration for her grow considerably. The world needs more people like JK Rowling.
