We must be allowed to listen to opposing viewpoints without silencing those we disagree with. Fear and intimidation should have no role in the discussion of ideas.

JK Rowling stands up for detransitioned lesbian women like me and in turn, I stand with her. Always.

I've never read a Harry Potter book, so no axe, or indeed wand, to grind. I am just grateful to a woman who is prepared to state the truth about the distinction between sex and gender without any animosity to trans people. I am appalled at the connected furore about her recent Galbraith novel. Disguising as the other sex in literature anti-trans? Twelfth Night Merchant of Venice...

Misogynistic, violent threats are the worst possible reaction to what JKR said. You’re just proving her point for her and damning your own cause.

I’m proud to stand wit JKR, in support of women. We need and deserve our own spaces, sport, and language for our bodies. We demand an end to the cult ideology harming our children.

Even if you don't agree with her stance, sign to say it's not okay to send women death threats and violent, pornographic abuse over the internet.

Who would have thought we would ever live in a time when women are bullied into denying biological reality. Thank you JK x

Women matter. We are not a subset of our own class. We need our own spaces, services and sports for our safety, dignity and privacy. We need our own word.

I completely agree with the content of this letter and her stance. We must protect the hard won space that woman have in society and work even harder to make sure they become truly equal. Anything that undermines that pursuit is to be fought against. Whatever the gender argument becomes it cannot undermine the status of women in society.
