A woman should not receive rape and death threats for speaking about concerns for women's safety. This misogynistic abuse should not be ignored & needs to be recognised by society as what it is: a means to silence and demean women. It should also be recognised that men do not receive this abuse when voicing the same or similar opinions.

I stand with JKR for myself, my daughter, & women & girls the world over. The only way to be a woman, is to be born female & grow up. That's it.

If you change the legal meaning of the word woman to “anyone who says they’re one” and then send rape and death threats to women who are, quite rightly, suggesting this will impact them then you are not on the right side of anything. Jo has shown clear-sightedness and moral courage in calling this out. Shame on those who have vilified, threatened and attacked her for her 100% principled stance. I stand with her always.

It is ubiquitous to try to silence people by falsely labelling them as bigots if their reasoned view is not congruent with your outlook.

This is so blatantly misogynistic. The abuse she has suffered, along with any women or trans people who speak out, has been staggering. I notice when male celebrities say similar, or much harsher, things the response is barely a ripple. I am absolutely sick of the abuse and innate sexism and woman-hatred. I may have some fundamental differences with JK Rowling but this is so wildly disproportionate. Among my fears of what happens to women are fears that this will inevitably lead to a backlash against the trans community
