J K Rowling is an inspiration for women and girls.

Regardless of whether you agree, partially disagree or totally disagree with her recent statements, this should not be a difficult pettion to decide to sign. There will be a huge number of people who would like to sign but do not feel safe to do so, which it itself highlights the point about "an insidious authoritarian and misogynistic trend in social media".

In solidarity with JK Rowling. No-one should face rape or death threats for expressing an opinion.

I've had my life irrevocably impacted by the thoughtless knee jerk reactions of policy-makers as it concerns Women's spaces and privacy, due to the arbitrary privileges accorded to people whose female-identified claims were privileged over Women. This was due to being homeless at one point in my life and the trauma will never leave me. JK Rowling absolutely understands the issues and expresses her concerns for Women and Trans-Women faultlessly. This is a fascist attempt through rhetorical posturing to limit and erode the rights Women have worked so hard to establish for themselves -- to live safely with respect and without fear of encroachment.

This isn't Russia in the 1930's let's not kowtow to these witch hunts.

I Support JKR.

History will show that those who question the self-assigning of gender were absolutely right to do so. Right now it takes courage to do so publicly.

The reaction to Troubled Blood from those who have not read it has been ridiculous! It is a feminist novel with a heterosexual love story at its heart. I love the Ellacot/Strike series! Joanne, you just speak the truth on behalf of women everywhere. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I stand with JKR

There will always be topics that require debate. The freedom to write, think, and speak about topics that others may disagree with is of paramount importance. JK Rowling has stated time and time again that her concern for women's sex-based rights does not mean that she is not also concerned about trans people's rights to live free from discrimination. However, one person's rights cannot come at the expense of another person's rights. We must be able to debate these issues in order to find common ground and acceptable solutions. These debates cannot be productive as long as violent and abusive speech is employed. I am signing this petition because I believe that civil discourse is the best way to bring about positive change. I believe that women's rights are just as important as trans people's rights, and I also stand in support of JK Rowling and her commitment to giving a voice to the people who share her concerns.

I would support free speech even if I disagreed, but in this case I happen to agree.
